Vessel from India docked in Durban, 14 crew members test positive for COVID-19

14 crew members of a vessel from India have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Durban harbour.

The vessel is under lockdown and crew members in quarantine. The Filipino-crewed Eaubonne vessel sailed from India 17 days ago.

The global spotlight on the coronavirus pandemic is currently turned on India. It has more than 20 million cases and counting.

While global aid is being rushed to the nation of 1.3 billion, it’s also a sobering reminder that this virus undergoes significant mutations.

There are concerns that the India dominant variant may emerge in South Africa.
