Western Cape Transport Dept condemns Golden Arrow bus attacks

The Western Cape Transport Department has condemned attacks on Golden Arrow buses in Nyanga, in Cape Town.

A bus was torched and law enforcement vehicles damaged, while staff were attacked during protests on Friday.

Taxi drivers caused havoc after their vehicles were impounded.

At least 22 buses were stoned, while bus drivers and other transport operators in the area were intimidated.

Three people were injured, including a passenger and two bus company officials.

Golden Arrow is calling for additional safety measures until tensions ease.
