Child abuse on the rise in SA

Child abuse is on the increase in South Africa and it was particularly bad during the COVID-19 heavy lockdown.

In the Western Cape alone, more than 250 children were abused during the first three months of the lockdown.

Experts say increased levels of stress were experienced during the hard lockdown in households.

Civil society organizations say this is but the tip of the iceberg as many cases go unreported.

Parents are being urged to be alert and vigilant.
