A drastic drop in crime in Cape Town’s CBD could be just the boost businesses need after a thrashing by the pandemic.
Crime in the inner city dropped by more than half from March 2020 to March 2021, compared to the previous year.
The Central City Improvement District says it’s thanks to an improvement in safety strategies, as well as collaborations with various safety bodies.
Cape Town’s Central City Improvement District says some may think the drastic decrease in crime is because there were fewer people in the city during the hard lockdown.
But it says this is not the case, as safety officers still had their hands full with looters, petty criminals, and ensuring businesses were protected.
