SA to try rescind Israel’s observer status

The granting of observer status at the African Union to Israel is inexplicable.

That’s the word from South Africa’s international relations minister and her Palestinian counterpart, who have met in Pretoria.

Both have condemned the decision by the AU Commission chairperson.

South Africa will push for a reversal when the AU’s executive meets in Ethiopia next week.

As Govan Whittles reports, the Palestinians are lobbying South Africa not to let it stand.
