The Hawks say an investigation into the Eastern Cape’s multi-billion toilet tender is at an advanced stage.
This comes after two district municipalities irregularly awarded the contract to Izwelethu Cemforce.
It turns out the company did very little of the specified work.
Spokesperson Thandi Mbambo outlined some of the preliminary findings.
“It was discovered the toilets were actually not constructed. It was only material delivered in certain areas. Preliminary investigations show the work is totally not completed in line with the amount already paid to the company in question,” she said.
