Deputy State Security Minister Zizi Kodwa has defended the government’s decision to deploy SANDF soldiers to help the IEC and police safeguard the 2021 municipal elections.
10,000 soldiers are expected to be deployed around the country on Saturday morning.
They are assisting police to provide security at voting booths.
The soldiers will be stationed until 3 November.
