Eskom has announced power cuts will be reduced to Stage 3 from 9 pm on Thursday until 5 am on Friday.
Stage 2 power cuts will then commence until 5 am on Saturday morning.
The power utility said units at various power stations have returned to service.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan said on Wednesday that there would be no blackouts over the election weekend.
