Kenneth Kaunda lit the path to freedom, says Ramaphosa

African heads of states and members of the international community paid their final respects to former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda.

Kaunda is being laid to rest in Lusaka on Friday.

KK, as he was known, was given a state funeral in Lusaka.

The statesman died at the age of 97 after a short illness.

Kaunda was Zambia’s first president after independence.

President Cyril Ramaphosa remarked on how Kaunda was the last of a generation who lit the path to Africa’s freedom.

He also detailed how KK helped the ANC during apartheid.
