Western Cape taxi violence: ANC and alliance partners trying to broker peace

They are negotiating with taxi associations to find a lasting peace agreement.

More than 20 people have been killed in taxi-related shootings this month.

The contentious Bellville to Mbekweni taxi route – at the heart of the unrest – has been closed down for a period of two months.

Meanwhile, Cosatu says workers can’t be dismissed for missing work due to the taxi unrest and it will assist those who want to dispute a dismissal.
