Cape Town commuters fear job losses due to taxi violence

Not only are Cape Town commuters afraid they might die, they’re also scared of losing their jobs.

This as many CATA and CODETA taxis aren’t operating following route closures.

Some people are saying those affiliated to the taxi industry are attacking other modes of transport.

Over 20 people have been killed in taxi-related violence in July alone.

Meanwhile, Golden Arrow Bus Services has dispatched 1,100 buses to transport commuters.

The discussions between CATA and CODETA are ongoing.

The provincial and national governments have also intervened following a decision to suspend several taxi routes operated by the two associations.
