Over 140 000 inmates set to get COVID-19 jab

Vaccinating inmates will protect society from possible COVID-19 outbreaks as a result of overcrowding in prisons, according to Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola.

Just over 140,000 inmates across the country are set to receive the jab by 6 August.

The country has only just started vaccinating 35 to 49-year-olds.

All 140,319 prisoners will get the chance to have the jab, regardless of age.

Lamola has defended the programme.
