They say that ‘a kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.’ One person who proved this statement to be true is singer Zonke Dikana. The seasoned musician lent a helping hand to a needy student who was on the verge of dropping out of University and returning home.
During this time of the year, students flood the timeline to either express their difficulties with paying outstanding fees or issues with registration money.
Many celebrities like Nomzamo Mbatha have committed themselves in helping students further their studies and graduate. She partnered with Hollywood Bets for an R500 000 bursary campaign.
The popular tweet ‘O Jewa Ke Eng?’ by @akreana_ helps many people from all walks of life with whatever issue they have. Under that tweet, multiple people tweet their problems and the reach is massive.
Twitter user Buhle Sithole took to social media with a disdained heart as she suffered the possibility of not continuing with her studies. She tweeted;
“I’m currently packing my bags and going back home because I have outstanding fees and can’t register. I owe R29K & they want 17K for me to register provisionally. I was rejected by NSFAS twice in a row even after I sent thru my mom’s death certificate and my dad’s disability papers.”
A very eager Zonke Dikana responded to the student and pleaded her to not return home as she will offer her a lending hand.

A few days later, Buhle announced that Zonke came through for her and paid her outstanding fees.
