The government says South Africans being brought back home from China are coronavirus free.
The government will evacuate South Africans from the Chinese city of Wuhan which has been on lockdown since the outbreak of coronavirus.
A spokesperson for the Presidency, Khusela Diko, explains.
“We can confirm that President Cyril Ramaphosa has directed that SA citizens in Wuhan province in China are repatriated back to SA. Cabinet took this decision following representation and request from individuals and their families.”
Diko says none of them has been diagnosed with a coronavirus.
“Upon arrival, they will be quarantined for 21 days as an additional precautionary measure.”
A total of 132 out of 199 have requested repatriation.
