Gauteng Premier, David Makhura could announce a new Health MEC on Wednesday.
This comes after Bandile Masuku was removed for his involvement in a controversial PPE tender.
A Special Investigating Unit investigation found Masuku failed to provide sufficient oversight which led to irregular and wasteful expenditure.
Makhura’s also expected to announce measures to strengthen the provincial health department.
Gauteng has the most COVID-19 cases overall and the highest death toll.
