At least 49 people have been arrested for flouting COVID-19 regulations in Johannesburg in the past 48-hours.
The City’s authorities are conducting major roadblocks and visiting entertainment establishments to monitor compliance.
“From yesterday, with Johannesburg being a hotspot, the City directed by the executive mayor took a decision that we will implement a zero-tolerance approach, especially to those who deliberately seek to undermine the regulations as stated by the President,” said Johannesburg mayoral spokesperson, Mlimandlela Ndamase.
Under stricter lockdown regulations, curfew begins at 9 pm, and huge parties and gatherings are not allowed.
