A FlySafair flight en route to Cape Town had to return to OR Tambo International after the right engine malfunctioned on Friday.
Passengers continued their trip on a standby aircraft after landing safely. The cause of the fault is being investigated.
The airline activated a standby aircraft to fly the passengers to Cape Town International airport.
FlySaFair Marketing Vice President, Kirby Gordon, says the cause is still being investigated and the engine has been sent to a specialist for further inspection.
