South Africa reports 213 new COVID-19 related deaths

Nearly 7 out of every 10 South Africans who tested positive for COVID-19 have already recovered.

This means the country has just under a 156,000 active cases at the moment. The health department reported 213 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

Fifty-one patients died in the Free State, 43 in the Western Cape, 40 in Gauteng, 31 in KZN, 25 in the Eastern Cape and 23 in Limpopo.

Just under 8,200 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. More than 3-million tests have been conducted since the outbreak started in March.
