Over 700 people arrested this weekend under level two of lockdown

The first weekend under level two of the lockdown has been marred by some lawlessness in Gauteng.

Over 740 people have been arrested for breaking lockdown rules and other crimes.

Two police officers are amongst those arrested for drinking and driving. They will also face disciplinary action.

Other crimes include murder, rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the possession of unlicensed firearms.

The suspects will appear at various magistrates court across Gauteng from Monday.
