The Special Investigating Unit says it hasn’t yet interviewed the president’s spokesperson, Khusela Diko. Corruption allegations surfaced against her husband regarding a PPE tender for the Gauteng health department.
“I had a briefing with all the teams from all the provinces, Gauteng in particular, they have given me a line up of the weaknesses and the contracts they are reviewing”, said Head of the SIU Andy Mothibi.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa released a statement promising to investigate all reports of alleged corruption and irregularities in the dispensing of COVID-19 relief funds.
He also says the country is preparing for the COVID-19 peak. South Africa has surpassed 500,000 coronavirus infections.
