Number of SA health workers infected with COVID-19 increase

The Department of Health says it’s concerned with the number of doctors and nurses who have been infected with the coronavirus. Health workers are often exposed as they are in the front line of the battle the virus.

Eleven medical doctors, one nurse, and one neurophysicist have tested positive for the virus.

“All these health workers are in a good medical condition with most of them having mild or no symptoms”, read a statement from the department.

Meanwhile, the department says the number of people infected with COVID-19 has risen to 1187.

South Africa has begun a 21-day national lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
