More rain is expected to hit Cape Town on Sunday.
On Friday, heavy rain caused localized flooding.
Roads in formal and informal areas were submerged and some areas were left without power.
Blocked drains caused by waste being dumped in it, was a major contributing factor to the flooding.
“Citywide we were inundated with calls about flooding taking place,” said the City of Cape Town’s Samuel Freeman.
With more rain forecast for Sunday, city officials are on standby.
“Every department within the City of Cape Town has its own contingency plans, so departments have crews on standby.” said Freeman.
Sunday will be cool in the west but hot in the east. Isolated thunderstorms will develop due to the extreme heat and sufficient moisture. A cold front will bring more rain for the Western Cape mainly into the evening. #eNCA pic.twitter.com/lERheOb2Oo
