Thabiso Zulu has been discharged from the hospital after he was shot in the arm by an unknown gunman.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker said police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
Naicker said police are trying to reach Zulu to get a statement from him.
“At this stage detectives have opened an attempted murder docket.
“The victim and his friend were attacked by unknown gunmen.
“The victim was taken to hospital by his friend and treated and discharged,” said Naicker.
Zulu, a friend of slain ANCYL general secretary Sindiso Magaqa, told eNCA earlier this year that he was very worried about being targeted and was not receiving protection.
He previously testified before the Moerane Commission, which investigated political killings in KwaZulu-Natal.
He’s been outspoken about the killing of Magaqa.
