Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa chose to take special leave

Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa volunteered to take special leave, according to Gauteng Caucus leader, John Moodey The embattled mayor has been embroiled in a s-e-x scandal in the city’s offices with Transport MMC, Sheila Senkubuge.

The DA says its Federal Legal Commission will investigate and the two will get a chance to give their version of events. Mokgalapa and Senkubuge have elected to take leave until the probe is over.

Moodey explained the investigation would cover how the recording was obtained, its authenticity and whether the pair brought the party into disrepute.

A case of extortion and invasion of privacy has been opened at the Brooklyn SAPS. Meanwhile, the EFF in Tshwane has tabled an urgent motion of no confidence in Mokgalapa. The red berets say Mokgalapa can’t fix the problems plaguing the metro. These include an ongoing water crisis, power cuts and wasteful expenditure.
