2 children fatally electrocuted in Johannesburg

Two children have been killed, after being electrocuted at an informal settlement near Cleveland in Johannesburg.

City Power says it’s suspected the children may have been on an exposed live electricity wire in Mangolongolo Informal Settlement.

The Johannesburg Power Utility has described the area as one of the hotspots for illegal connections and vandalism of infrastructure.

It says at least 21 electrocution cases have been reported in the past two financial years, with six of them happening this year.

City Power has expressed its condolences to the family and has dispatched a team to investigate the incident.

Kelly Khumalo Joins Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams As Idols SA Judge

AFTER many calls by the fans of the show, this coming Sunday award-winning musician Kelly Khumalo will be part of Idols SA.

The songstress, who has become a household name in Mzansi, will be a guest judge on the show joining resident judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams.

According to Idols SA, they chose Kelly, who they described as unpredictable, because of her amazing track record as a musician which makes her a fitting guest judge for Idols SA.

“Kelly Khumalo has never been someone who can be described as ‘predictable’. What we do know is that she has plenty of advice to give, and we can’t wait to see what it will be,” the Idols SA statement read.

Last week, the show had actor and presenter Khaya Dladla as a judge. He impressed viewers, who pleaded with the creators of the show to keep him permanently.

The rotation of guest judges comes after the show put judge Somizi Mhlongo on ice following abuse allegations that were levelled against him by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung.

Previously, stars like Lady Du, Prince Kaybee and Oskido appeared on the show as guest judges.

Season 17 of Idols SA broadcasts on Sundays at 5pm on Mzansi Magic (DSTV channel 161).

Lebo M Joins Herman Mashaba’s Party, ActionSA

Ahead of the local government elections, Mzansi has seen a lot of celebrities joining the political space.

A celebrity who recently donned colours of a political party is reality TV star and award-winning producer, Lebo M.

The media personality has been campaigning for Herman Mashaba’s party, ActionSA.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Lebo said he has always had political interests and explained why he decided to join Herman’s party.

“I made a conscious decision to support Mashaba as a desperate need to participate in bringing about dignity to our nation. I am exhausted with the level of crime and chaotic corruption in our current dispensation that has become globally embarrassing to most of us who have to answer on behalf of the country,” he said.

Lately, more and more media personalities are joining politics. When asked if this has become a trend or he truly believes that they can use their influence to bring change.

Lebo told Daily Sun they are just being responsible citizens.

The past two years have been very difficult for artists since the pandemic hit our shores and have been sharing their struggles, asking government for assistance.

But Lebo shared that it has only just made public knowledge, they have been struggling for decades.

“From inception post-1994, the arts and entertainment sector and culture have never been a priority to a respectable degree domestically and/or globally in South Africa. Embarrassing, given the talent and resources available,” he shared.

He also shared that he is optimistic and believes that ActionSA will win.

“We need new energy and direction. We need bold and decisive leadership,” he said.

When asked about music and whether we are getting a second season of his tongue-wagging reality show, Lebo M said: “I will focus on those post-elections. My priority right now is my responsibility to be an active citizen and the new commitment I made to the public through ActionSA.”
