KZN sees rise in COVID-19 infections among health workers

KwaZulu-Natal is seeing a rise in the number of Covid-19 infections among healthcare workers.

This has been confirmed by the province’s Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu.

She’s calling for calm after posts on social media claimed healthcare workers are being infected with COVID-19 at various hospitals.

Since the beginning of the pandemic over 7,400 health workers have contracted the virus.

A percent of them succumbed to the disease. 57-percent of nurses were infected followed by six-percent of doctors.

Over the past 24 hours, KZN has seen 1,613 new coronavirus cases. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
