The Department of Health reported 1,913 new cases of COVID-19 in the country. The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 685,155.
The death toll now stands at 17,248 after 145 more people died of COVID-19.
The department said 42 people died in KwaZulu-Natal, 41 in Gauteng, 24 in Limpopo, 11 in Mpumalanga, eight in the Western Cape, seven in the Northern Cape and one person in the Eastern Cape.
