Growing violence in KZN causes concern for the government

The devastating impact of growing violence in KwaZulu-Natal is a cause for concern for the government, according to MEC for Community Safety liaison Bheki Ntuli.

Last week, the body of a four-year-old KwaMashu toddler was found with multiple stab wounds.

Nine people were killed in KwaNdengezi at the weekend and on Tuesday, the bodies of two women were discovered in KwaMashu.

“It seems to me there’s a shift in the pattern of crime,” Ntuli said. We are already trying with the help of the minister of police to put together a strategy against this war against women and children in KZN.

Ntuli said alcohol and drugs play a major role in violent crime, as well as the use of firearms.
