SA Lockdown: Eskom doubles maintenance due to low demand

Eskom says it is doubling its maintenance work due to low electricity demand. The power utility says electricity usage has dropped by about 8,000 megawatts since the national lockdown took effect last week.

This has allowed Eskom to operate without the need to implement loadshedding.
The utility says it will use the lockdown period as an opportunity to take some units off the grid, including the Koeberg power station.
