Former Idols SA Twins Anele and Neliswa are back

Former Idols SA contestant twins Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza have returned to the music scene with a new banger. The twins have announced their new stage name Amali -meaning hope- and have released a new single Take Me Back. Anele and Neliswa decided to switch things up as they were looking for a fresh start.

Speaking to Drum Anele explained: “We chose the name Amali, meaning hope in Swahili because we were looking for a fresh start and we wish to be a vessel of hope for other people who feel hopeless and broken.

The Mxakaza twins from Ridgeview in Durban in 2017, opened a case against their former pastor, Timothy Omotoso, from the Jesus Dominion International Church.
The twins made several allegations against the pastor.

“We really can’t wait to get it over and done. It’s always in the back of our minds in everything that we do. We don’t feel safe,” Anele told the publication. We have decided that this needs to stop and we are taking back our lives and our music careers.

The twins appeared on season nine of Idols SA and were booted from the singing competition after the judges felt that the twins were not emotionally mature to go through to the second round.

Their exit from the competition sparked a campaign on social media by their supporters in the hopes of bringing the twins back into the competition. Unfortunately, their supporter’s efforts did not help the twins to return to the competition.
