Eskom says it will keep Christmas lights on. The power utility says it won’t be implementing load-shedding for the next two days. But, Eskom is warning its systems remain vulnerable.
Eskom says it’ll continue to use emergency reserves to add to capacity if necessary. Consumers are urged to continue using electricity sparingly during this period. Eskom says it will work throughout the holiday season to minimise the possibility of rolling power cuts.
Spokesperson Dikatso Motae says, “Because of the load amount over the festive season, we don’t believe that we will need to load shed. We continue to ask customers to use electricity sparingly towards the day. Remember to switch off all those unused lights and appliances as that goes a long way to reduce the load on the system
