Rapulana Seiphemo, a multi-award-winning South African actor, turns 54 today, November 4, 2021.
Rapulana was born and raised in the South African slum of Meadowlands. After finishing high school, he moved to the United States to pursue his BA in Theatre Arts.
He came home to South Africa after finishing his studies and began teaching at Fuba Academy before joining the Sibikwa Community Theatre Group in 1996 and Wits University as a tutor in 1997.
Rapulana appeared in a number of theatre performances in the early 1990s, including The Merchant of Venice (1991), Paul Slabolepszy’s Saturday Night at the Palace (1993), August Wilson’s Piano Lesson (1996), and others.
Godlieb Mofokeng in SABC 3’s renowned drama Isidingo was his first prominent role. Between 1998 and 2001, he was a regular on the soap opera. Tau Mogale, who he played for nearly 20 years on Generations and Generations: The Legacy, is another famous role. He was also cast as Pheko in the long-running drama Muvhango on SABC 2 in 2006.

In 1989, the actor shot to fame after stealing the crowd at a Market Theatre stage rendition of the film My Children, My Africa. Rapulana had dazzling appearances in competitive production stages such as The Merchant of Venice, The Piano Lesson, The Blacks, and Saturday Night as his career advanced.
When he returned to South Africa in 1995, he was offered Tau Mogale, a teaching position at the Federated Union of Black Artists Academy, or Fuba Academy. He went on to teach at Sibikwa Community Theatre Group a year later before lecturing at Wits University in 1997.
The leading man earns money from a variety of ways, including one of his most successful films, Tsotsi, which had a budget of $3 million and grossed $11.5 million at the box office. His monthly remuneration is said to be R55,000, according to sources.
Katlego, Rapulana Seiphemo’s daughter, is the most well-known of the couple’s three daughters. Katlego is unmistakably her father’s daughter, having begun acting at a young age.
