Former Jam Alley presenter Thato ‘T’do’ Mahlatsi released from police cells

Former Jam Alley presenter and rapper Thato “T’do” Mahlatsi will not be prosecuted for impersonating a soldier.

T’do was arrested on Thursday, 25 November by Community Police Forum members in Orlando East, Soweto, while wearing a full military uniform.

At the height of his fame, he was a member of Zulu Mobb with Desmond ‘Dez’ Radebe. He was also one of the people behind Jub Jub’s massive hit Ndikhokhele.

CPF members said they handed him over to Diepkloof cops, who put him behind bars for the weekend.

Police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubele confirmed the arrest.

According to police sources, it was the second time T’do was spotted wearing a military uniform in a week.

“Members of the CPF said the first time, they saw him in uniform leaving a house. They asked him what he was doing at that house because they suspected someone was selling drugs there,” said a police source.

“He claimed he was a community patroller and they let him go.

“When they saw him leaving the same house for a second time, they confronted him again. His story didn’t make sense. They asked him why he was patrolling alone and also asked him to explain the military fatigues, which he couldn’t.”

On Monday, 29 November the National Prosecuting Authority’s Phindi Mjonondwane said: “The suspect was released and will not be prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.”
