Twitter thinks Somizi and Mohale’s pic they appear like friends rather than as a couple

South African media personality, Somizi Mhlongo, shared a series of images of himself and his husband, Mohale Motaung, on social media. The pair smiled happily for the images, with Mohale’s arm resting around Somizi’s shoulders. Their demeanour caught the attention of fans, who felt that their pair appeared as friends rather than as a couple.

Somizi and Mohale

The post sparked many comments which questioned why they are never seen holding and kissing each other, with some claiming that their lack of public affection was odd for a couple who are supposedly in love. The questions didn’t seem to phase Somizi, who sarcastically responded back to a tweep who stated, “I never see you two kissing each other”, with, “We don’t kiss…lol…I don’t kiss guys.” Tweeps found Somizi’s response hilarious, and praised him for responding with a joke, rather than lashing out at the inquisitive fan.

Somizi and Mohale

Somizi and Mohale tied the knot in 2019, which was broadcast in a wedding series on Showmax earlier this year. The couple, who had both a traditional ceremony and a lavish white wedding, was also expected to have a third celebration in Italy in 2020, although due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event had been cancelled.

The newlyweds have appeared on each other’s socials sporadically throughout their time together, keeping the posts casual and romantic. Despite the public’s cause for concern due to their lack of affection, Somizi and Mohale are as happy as can be and are continuing to enjoy their marital bliss.

Shock as Zakes Bantwini removes his wife Nandi Madida from their multimillion-rand properties

Award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini and his wife Nandi Mngoma dropped a bombshell when they applied for a court order to remove the songstress from their multimillion-rand joint estate. The showbiz’s power couple’s joint estate includes an R3.5-million house in KwaZulu-Natal and an R1.5-million property in Gauteng.

Sunday World can exclusively reveal that the couple, who got married in community of property four years ago, petitioned the Joburg High Court last week to dissolve their marriage.

In his affidavit seen by Sunday World, Bantwini said he and Mngoma erroneously entered into the community of property marriage because of their “misunderstanding with the marriage officer”.

He is pleading with the court to allow them to convert their union to out of community of property.

Bantwini, who is the first applicant in the case, said he got hitched to Mngoma on June 8 2016 in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, in the community of property.

He said before their marriage, he and Mngoma, who is the second applicant in the case, had planned to be married out of the community of property without the application of the accrual system.

Bantwini’s affidavit reads: “And as a result of a misunderstanding between ourselves and the marriage officer, who conducted the marriage ceremony, we understood incorrectly as it now appears that he would be in a position to ensure that our marriage would be out of community of property without the application of the accrual system.

“At all material times, it was the intention of the second applicant and myself to be married out of community of property without application of the accrual system.”

Bantwini also said he only discovered when he was discussing their “personal financial affairs”

Zakes Bantwini & Nandi Madida

Power couple has cited ‘misunderstanding’ with Mngoma’s bank that they were married in community of property. The muso, real name Zakhele Madida, said Mngoma, who was the face of Legit and iconic soap brand Lux, doesn’t have assets to her name.

He, meanwhile, owns an R3.4 million house in Morningside, KwaZulu-Natal, and an R1.5 million crib in Thornhill, Modderfontein, in Joburg.

He added that he and Mngoma would enter into a post-nuptial notarial contract and would not prefer the accrual system to apply into post-nuptial notarial contract because they individually have successful careers and independent sources of income.

Mngoma, the Skhanda Love singer, signed a confirmatory affidavit agreeing to the dissolution of their in the community of property marriage. The couple has two children.

Actress Mona Monyane has been applauded for taking a firm stand against rape, gender-based violence (GBV) and helping SA women deal with abusers, instead of just blowing hot air.

Mona Monyane

Mona also revealed that she wanted to do a sit down with the attorney who can help with information about how to open a case, and when is it legally safe for a victim to announce the identity of her abuser or rapist.

“I am a woman of action. We have been talking long enough. Let’s put them behind bars. DM if you need her services,” she said.

Man accused of taking part in cash-in-transit van robbery dies in hospital

Shadrack Sabata Motan, 41, accused of taking part in a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle robbery at Mnandi Shopping Centre in Pretoria, died in hospital before his first scheduled appearance in court.

News24 previously reported that Motan was allegedly part of a group of five men who attempted to rob a CIT van.

However, a shootout between the robbers and security guards ensued, in which Motan, as well as two security guards, were injured.

Motan was recovering in hospital following the robbery, which took place earlier this month.

He was due to appear in court on Monday on charges of attempted robbery, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and two counts of murder.

According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Monday, Motan died at Kalafong hospital four days after the robbery.

The charges against him have subsequently been withdrawn, NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said.

I am still alive says David Mabuza after month-long sick leave

ANC deputy president and the SA’s second-in-command David Mabuza is alive and well after taking a month-long sick leave.

Mabuza said this during the ANC top six officials’ post-NEC meeting media briefing on Monday.

Following mounting speculation recently about Mabuza’s health, “The Cat” – as he is affectionately known – has come out of the dark and is back at work.

Mabuza said it was shameful that some South Africans decided to spread fake news that he was dead. He returned to work 10 days ago, he said.

“I took leave for a period of a month because of my health condition and I was in the good hands of doctors in the country. So I came back. This is my 10th day at work,” said an upbeat Mabuza.
My health situation is improving, so I am grateful that I survived. Some of our people already were circulating information that I am dead. Well, I am still alive.”

Mabuza said it had been “difficult”, but he was pleased that he had come out tops from his illness.

The media-shy Mabuza also took the opportunity to address some issues pertaining to him within the ANC – one being the confusion over whether he had been cleared by the ANC integrity commission (IC) after the national general elections last year.

Mabuza said the issue was done and dusted as far as he was concerned.

Deputy President David Mabuza

This is despite the commission having early this month insisted that it never exonerated the former Mpumalanga premier.

Mabuza famously postponed his swearing in as the country’s deputy president and member of parliament last year, choosing to appear before the commission to clear his name first on allegations against him from his time as Mpumalanga ANC strongman.
He insisted however that he had been cleared when he was eventually sworn in.

“I made my presentation to the integrity commission … and then the integrity commission wrote their own report, seeking to say, ‘This comrade can proceed and do his work,’ – and that was presented to the NEC,” said Mabuza.

“It is in that regard that I was allowed to go back to parliament. I never insisted on going back. I was prepared to go the extra mile to deal with all issues raised by the integrity commission.

“So there should be no qualm to say we are undermining the integrity commission. As of now, the matter was concluded.”

Mabuza also expressed confidence that his “unity” project he started in Nasrec was well on track under the capable leadership of ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Bheki Cele says officers who turn away GBV victims have no place in SAPS

Police Minister Bheki Cele says officers who refused to help victims of gender-based violence (GBV) were doing so in dereliction of their duties.

Cele was speaking at the security cluster ministers GBV and femicide dialogue on Monday afternoon.

Concerns have been raised about officers who turn victims away from police stations, leaving them without assistance.

The minister said the police force has taken steps to conduct sensitivity training for officers.

“Those officers who choose to comply with the policy of SAPS – which is to treat victims with respect and dignity – those officers who shame us by turning victims away, don’t have a place in the South African Police Service.”

Cele introduced a police directory to be used by victims to report mistreatment by officers at police stations.

“It will be easy for the public out there to be able to; if you are not assisted in your station, you phone the next in line until you reach the Minister or the commissioner.”
