#Statecaptureinquiry to resume

After about ten days, the state capture inquiry resumes on Monday. This after the inquiry chairperson Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and his staff went into a period of isolation following exposure to someone with COVID-19.

“If each time somebody that has been in close contact with me tests positive, the hearings of the Commission have got to be disrupted,” Zondo said at the time.

The commission says the chairperson is healthy, has no symptoms and was able to continue with his work in isolation.

Should something like this happen again, the commission’s confirmed Zondo will conduct hearings virtually as long as he’s in good health. Former president Jacob Zuma was summoned to appear in the week that fell away.

But an attorney representing Zuma said he will not be appearing. Zuma’s letter to the commission preceded the announcement that the inquiry wouldn’t be sitting. The inquiry says it will soon release a statement regarding just how the Zuma matter will be dealt with.
