The bodies of three family members from Tsomo in the Eastern Cape have been discovered.
They were kidnapped from their home on Monday.
The bodies of the 71-year-old grandmother and her granddaughters (16 and 17) were found floating in the nearby Mhlahlane River.
They were found tightly bound in chains.
Three cases of murder and kidnapping have been opened.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
