Blood & Water season 2 back with more drama

he first season of Netflix series Blood & Water, that broke records when it premiered, left viewers with a cliffhanger when it ended.

Ahead of the premiere of the second season, Daily Sun caught up with its lead actress Khosi Ngema, who told us viewers were in for a treat.

Khosi, who plays the role of Fikile Bhele, said the drama would pick up right where it left off and viewers would get all the answers they had been waiting for.

“You can expect a lot of drama. There are new faces, secrets and mysteries. Fans will be at the edge of their seats the entire season,” she said.Blood & Water

She added that her character had grown from who she was in season one.

“Fikile is battling with what happened in season one. But, she’s trying to find her own voice and make decisions based on what she feels is best for herself. That shows a lot of growth compared to the girl we saw in season one, who moved based on what other people thought of her.”

The talented actress shared that she enjoyed herself on set, even though they had some challenges.

“Filming season two was different because we were doing so during a pandemic. We found ourselves in a bubble during filming, which was fun because we all got to know each other better. We created new memories and forged strong bonds,” she said.

“There were many moments I enjoyed, but one that stood out was getting to learn to surf – it’s been on my bucket list.”

The actress, whose father is veteran actor Mangaliso Ngema, added that though he was highly ranked, she had not experienced any pressure.

“My dad has always taught me to forge my own path in life, and I never felt like his successes were my own. So, I feel confident that my journey is unique, and I know he is proud of me for creating a name for myself,” she said.
Season one was Khosi’s debut acting gig, and she said she had grown a lot in the past two years.

“I learnt a lot during filming season one, and was excited to apply the lessons to my performance in this one. It does not hurt that I’m surrounded by a wealth of talent, and we all strive to help each other hit the right marks.”

She also revealed her dream of one day making it internationally.

“I would like to keep taking opportunities to grow and master my craft, both locally and internationally. I want to tell stories that need to be heard, and move in a way that creates space in the industry for more young creatives. My only wish is to inspire young people to see themselves achieving their ‘wildest’ dreams and taking action towards that.”
