Tributes are pouring in for the first Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Frank Mdlalose, who died at the age of 89.
He died of Covid-19 complications on Saturday.
Mdlalose became Premier in 1994, after the country’s first democratic elections.
He was later appointed as South Africa’s ambassador to Egypt.
His party, the IFP, is describing him as an outstanding servant of the country.
The party has extended condolences to his daughter, and his wife who is currently in the hospital fighting the virus.
