South Africa has seen its highest number of COVID-19 infections in a day. The country recorded 8,728 new infections.
Total infections are now above 168,000. A further 95 deaths have taken the death toll to 2,844.
Gauteng has 49,937 cases and is rapidly catching up with the Western Cape’s 65,841 infections. Over 1.7 million tests have been conducted.
