Nicholas Crisp has been appointed as the Health Department’s acting director-general but there may be something more sinister at play. His predecessor, Sandile Buthelezi has taken leave, allegedly to answer questions around the dodgy Digital Vibes contract.
Buthelezi is mentioned in the Special Investigating Unit report, that saw Dr Zweli Mkhize resign as Health Minister last month.
Buthelezi joined the department in June last year, under Mkhize. He has told the media in the past that Mkhize was his mentor. Buthelezi also worked as head of KwaZulu-Natal’s HIV/Aids and STI programme, when Mkhize was Health MEC.
