South Africa has technically entered its third wave of COVID-19 with over 9,000 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
Gauteng is leading the third wave with over 5,000 new infections.
A total of 100 more people have died, taking the death toll to 57,410.
SA technically entered the 3rd wave today as the national 7-day moving average incidence (5959 cases) now exceeds the new wave threshold as defined by the Ministerial Advisory Committee.

The MAC advisory defined the new wave 7-day moving average threshold as 30% of the peak incidence of the previous wave.
