Sputnik and Sinovac vaccines not authorised in South Africa

The South African Health Product Regulatory Authority says Russia’s Sputnik and Chinese Sinovac vaccines don’t meet the requirements to be authorized in the country.

The regulator says it’s concerned about the efficacy of these vaccines against the Delta variant.

SAHPRA says that it must be completely satisfied with each vaccine before it can be approved for use.
